In addition, from the last week of September to the first week of October, the Muestra de Gastronomía Menorquina (Menorcan Gastronomy Show) is held every year in more than 35 restaurants on the island with delicious menus prepared for the show.

Lobster stew: Lobster stew is a true delicacy and one of the island’s most emblematic dishes. The freshness of the lobster is masterfully combined in this soup giving life to an exquisite and comforting dish. The lobster-catching season runs from April to the end of August, although many restaurants have fish farms and it is still possible to taste this jewel of Menorcan gastronomy in October. Some restaurants are wary of its little tricks and secret ingredients such as a few camomile flowers or ‘camomil.la’, a little bit of bitter chocolate, a splash of rum…
Mahón cheese: Mahón cheese is another gastronomic treasure not to be missed. Whether on toast with tomato for breakfast, as an aperitif before lunch with a good local ‘Illa de Menorca’ wine, or even as a dessert with a delicious fig jam, this cheese with designation of origin will win you over. Its unique flavour and creamy texture make it a delicious option at any time of the day. You can enjoy it with advanced maturities of 6-12 months made with raw cow’s milk, or milder with maturities of 3-6 months made with pasteurised milk. You’ll be hard pressed not to find it on our buffets.
Oliaigua: Oliaigo is a recipe of humble origins that has evolved over time to become a tasty sofrito soup. With a base of water, oil, tomatoes, green pepper and garlic, it is served in a bowl with a base of toasted brown bread and combined with seasonal fruit, such as melon or figs. The preparation process is simple, as long as you follow these simple rules: it should never boil, use seasonal pear tomatoes and it is essential to prepare it overnight so that the flavours integrate perfectly.
Perol Menorquín: Perol Menorquín, a classic recipe, is a delicious mixture of potatoes and sliced tomatoes coated in breadcrumbs, garlic and parsley, a perfect side dish to accompany meat and fish. It is served au gratin and complements your dishes in an extraordinary way.
Baked Stingray: Stingray is a highly prized fish on the island and is the star of several traditional dishes. A delicious option is the baked skate, cooked with a base of potato, onion and tomato, baked in the traditional way in an earthenware dish and covered with a mixture of breadcrumbs, garlic, sweet paprika and chopped parsley.
Ensaimada: Finally, we cannot forget to mention the most emblematic dessert of the Balearic Islands: the ensaimada. This sweet and spongy pastry, often filled with cream, chocolate or angel hair, is a real delight for the palate. Can you resist trying it? For breakfast, as a snack or whenever you feel like it.
